About Atherton Bailey, Maidstone
Ruth Duncan
Ruth Duncan has more than 20 years' experience in business rescue and insolvency and sits on the finance and general purposes committee of the Insolvency Practitioners Association. She entered the profession in the mid-1980s at the London office of Levy Gee after a period at the Department of Trade and Industry. Since then Ruth has worked in the London offices of Grant Thornton and Smith & Williamson. She was latterly at Smith & Williamson's York office.
On her return from York, Ruth worked at Baker Tilly's Bromley office before leaving to set up her own firm Maxwell Davies in February 2003. Ruth brought her business into the Atherton Bailey partnership in 2006.
Ruth specialises in helping SMEs and sole-traders in financial difficulty. Much of her work is referred via accountants and other professionals who value her holistic approach to clients' insolvency crises. One local accountant said: "The most important thing about Ruth's approach is she is professional, not pompous. She is sympathetic to clients who have problems, listening and finding solutions."
Out of work Ruth plays tennis and is learning to play golf (very slowly and badly!).
